The Hittson connection---to the Gills--- thru the Browns
Louisa (Lucinda) Brown Gill
Louisa had a younger sister, Martha. Their mother, Jane Barton Brown, died.
Louisa had a young niece, Salena, whose mother, Mary Nail Brown died.
Louisa Brown Gill raised the two girls.
Salena was 14 when she married John Nathan Hittson in 1851.
Three years later, Martha, 18, married his brother, William, Uncle Billy Hittson.
They were very successful, hundreds of sections of land, thousands of cattle.
Uncle Billy's Mother was Mary Ann (Polly) Beck. Her sister was the mother of----

Nathan Bedford Forrest, famed Civil War General," I got there firstest with the mostest"
He was believed to be the first Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, according to the
Encyclopedia Britannica. He ordered it disbanded in 1869 because of its excessive
violence. He is honored across Tennessee, with a bust in the state capitol, a state park
in his name, and a large statue in Memphis over his grave.
